One of our latest adventures completed near our Deming, New Mexico location, where we used a machine from NM Travertine to cut an incredible Fishhook Thunderegg using this impressive industrial wire saw.
After carefully selecting and inspecting the specimen, we transported it to NM Travertine for its first major cut. Watching this massive saw work through the stone was an unforgettable experience, and the results exceeded our expectations. The Fishhook Thunderegg revealed beautiful chambers, striking patterns, and outstanding natural character hidden inside for millions of years.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new relationship with NM Travertine and their machine. Their precision cutting equipment allows us to safely open some of the largest and most unique specimens while preserving the natural beauty inside each rock.
Once the initial cutting is completed in Deming, the pieces are brought back to our Alto workshop, where we carefully clean, trim, finish, and prepare them for display in our gallery.
The finished Fishhook Thunderegg will soon be available to view at:
Spanish Stirrup Rock Shop & Gallery
156 Hill Country Road
Alto, New Mexico 88312
We have many more large Fishhook Thundereggs waiting to be opened, and after seeing these incredible results, we'll definitely be returning with another truckload.
Every stone has a story—and we're excited to share this journey with you from the quarry to the gallery.
We invite you to stop by Thursday through Sunday from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM to see this remarkable specimen and many other unique treasures on display.
